Welcome to Pure Inspiration!

Thank you for visiting my page. I am Kjersti Halvorsen (read more about me here), and I want to inspire you to live a life in line with your authentic self. A life where you have peace of mind, feel safe, dare to live as you wish, and make choices based on love instead of fear.

A lot can happen throughout our lives that limits us and holds us back or reduces our quality of life. However, the wonderful thing is that much of this can also be resolved, and instead of limiting us, it can become an experience from which we can learn, an insight that helps us grow.

Taking the first step towards a better everyday life can sometimes be challenging. It requires that we dive into our mind, feel our emotions, and are completely honest with ourselves. But when we come out on the other side, the reward is truly great.

And it is only we ourselves who can do the work. Unfortunately, there is no magic formula. BUT there are people who can inspire you and accompany you through the process. I hope I can be that for you.

Hypnosis and Consciousness

Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation and focused attention, where our consciousness is in an altered state, but where we are still fully aware. This can be compared to the trance state we naturally experience for large parts of the day. Examples of this are when you read a book or watch a movie and immerse yourself in the story of the book/movie. Or when you drive a car and suddenly realize that you don’t remember what you passed in the last few kilometres.

Our mental state can be divided into the conscious mind, the unconscious mind, and the subconscious mind. The conscious mind is where we engage in logical thinking and analysis, where we are critical and rational. In this state, we can capture 3-7 sensory impressions per second. The unconscious mind is where the body’s functions are controlled, e.g., breathing, physical reactions to emotions, and other processes that the body handles automatically. The subconscious is where our emotions are created. Emotions stem from our experiences and the meaning we attribute to these experiences. Everything we have experienced throughout life and the interpretations we have made of these experiences are stored here. The subconscious mind can capture about 2 million sensory impressions per second.

In addition, we have the critical faculty, a kind of security guard that compares the information we receive with what our subconscious already 'knows.' Its task is to keep us safe, and it interprets what is known as safe. Therefore, we can continue to make choices that are not in our best interest, because they are familiar and thus feel safe. And we often fall into the same patterns, basing our assumptions about the future on past experiences.

Hypnotherapy

In hypnotherapy, we use techniques from hypnosis to access the subconscious mind. In this state, one has an increased receptiveness to suggestions or inputs from outside and from oneself, and one can process and "reprogram" painful emotions and events. It is important to note that you remain in full control throughout the process and can choose to end or change the direction of the therapy at any time. The therapist will never be able to make you do things you do not want to do. Essentially, anyone can be hypnotized, but it will vary from person to person how easily one enters hypnosis.

Hypnotherapy is used to treat a wide range of issues, such as stress, anxiety, phobias, sleep problems, quitting smoking/snuff, weight control, pain management and more. By getting to the root of underlying emotional or mental blockages, hypnosis can help you change unwanted thought patterns and behaviours. Hypnosis is a safe and relaxing experience and can also be a useful tool for personal growth and healing.

About me

I believe we come into this world as safe and loving individuals. But throughout life, we pick up 'truths' about ourselves and the world that negatively affect us and prevent us from living our full potential. Being able to help people find their way back to their core, to peel away layers of limitations, and to have a life filled with more peace and joy, feels like a privilege.

I was born in the 60s in a small community in Vesterålen. Everyone knew everyone, and the elementary school had only 30 children in total. It felt safe, stable, and with lots of play. The transition to junior high, where we now were 30 in one class, was significant. My teenage years were marked by more uncertainty, and I became a mother at a young age. After a divorce and as a single parent, I started higher education in my 20s and got a degree in Finance & Business Administration. My first job after completing my studies was as an auditor. After that, I worked as a Finance Manager at LO and in various private companies. It’s been nice, interesting, challenging, and has given me a lot of experience.

But sometimes something happens when you become well into adulthood. I gradually began to feel that I wanted to do something else. My motivation to further develop in the Finance Manager role became less and less. Instead, I was drawn to topics such as self-development, mindfulness, awareness, holistic health, clean products, how to live more in harmony with what is natural for us, and at a calmer pace. In 2021-2022, I took a coaching certification at Jay Shetty Certification School. And in the spring of 2024 – the year I turned 60 – I had my last working day as an employee. Over the past 10 years, I have spent a lot of time and resources on personal development and increased awareness, which allowed me to take this leap with inner peace and confidence that this was the right choice to make.

What came my way was hypnotherapy! I immediately felt that this was my path and started the education in 2024. I am now in the process of receiving clients and will be fully certified by the fall.

FAQ

Everyone with normal intelligence and concentration ability can be hypnotized, but it will vary from person to person how easily one enters hypnosis. The best conditions are present when one has trust in the therapist and can follow the therapist's suggestions, as well as immerse oneself in what is being said. One's state on the day can also affect how easily one enters a trance. It is best to be well-rested.
If you have watched shows where the hypnotist gets people to do strange things, you might easily believe that the hypnotist gains control over you. This is however a show and entertainment. In hypnosis, you are always conscious. However, because the conscious mind is less critical in hypnosis, you are more receptive to suggestions from the hypnotist. A hypnotist will, however, never be able to make you do something that goes against your values and beliefs. For your behaviours and beliefs to change, you must be motivated to do so yourself. You will also not reveal secrets that you do not wish to share.
You are awake and aware throughout the entire hypnosis and will remember what you experienced, felt, and thought. If any memories you had forgotten come up, you will remember them even after you are out of the hypnosis.
In hypnosis, you are in a trance state that is a completely natural state and one that you are in for large parts of the day. It is completely safe, and you can choose to come out of this state at any time.
Being in hypnosis is a feeling of being completely relaxed, yet aware. It can be compared to listening to a guided meditation.
How we act in different situations is a result of our thought patterns, our beliefs, our past experiences, and how we have interpreted these. This is stored in our subconscious. In hypnosis, we gain access to the subconscious and can then 'reprogram' or process painful feelings or events.
Regression is when we use hypnosis to take you back in time, for example, to childhood. Often, our thought patterns or beliefs are based on events from an early age. It is then useful to go back to these to process and change the negative impact the event has created.
All hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis because you must actively choose to follow the hypnotist's suggestions. One can also choose to enter a state of trance on our own. This is very simple, and I will show you how in the first session.

My Services

The first step on the path to a better life is to raise awareness of our own life and thought patterns.

What truths do I carry that are not mine? How do my past experiences affect my life and my thoughts about the future? Where do I hold myself back? What triggers me, and why does it trigger me? What ignites the spark in me? What do I think about myself? How do I want to live?

These and many other questions can be answered through coaching. In coaching, we raise awareness and set goals for the future.

What sometimes holds us back from reaching the goals we set is our thought patterns or mindset.

To achieve the goals we set, we need Motivation, Method, and Mindset (ref. Jim Kwik).

Let’s say you want to start exercising. You are motivated, you have time, energy, and a purpose for your training. You have the method and know how to do it. But still, it doesn’t happen, or you quit after a short time. When this happens, it is often the thought pattern and your "truths" about yourself that stand in the way. What you believe about yourself, what you think you deserve, what you believe is possible for you, what you are capable of… etc.

To reach your goal, we therefore need to dive deeper into your "truths" and thought patterns, that is, your mindset. Here, hypnotherapy is an ideal tool. Through hypnotherapy, we gain access to the subconscious and can unravel and "reprogram" limiting beliefs and thought patterns.

In my practice, I combine coaching and hypnotherapy. This is a very good combination for achieving the changes you desire, because we focus on your goal, while having the tools to resolve what stands in the way.
